The Sarah Palin Chronicles

Of all the veep choices floated out there by the McCain camp in recent weeks, none were particularly exciting. Sarah Palin is. An inspired choice which knocked Obama off the stage almost before he actually got off the stage from his big Thursday night speech.
* This brief statement by my old boss and chairman of the American Conservative Union, David Keene, pretty much says it all: "The selection of Governor Palin is great news for conservatives, for the party and for the country. I predict any conservatives who have been lukewarm thus far in their support of the McCain candidacy will work their hearts out between now and November for the McCain-Palin ticket."
* But just in case that's not enough, this from the Evans-Novak Political Report: "Following the Democrats' superb convention, Sen. John McCain gave his candidacy a needed shot in the arm with his selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. The conservative base is revitalized, and the race is wide open."
* And one more from an unnamed testosterone-fueled young man in college: "Sarah Palin is hot." When did anyone ever say that about Hillary Clinton?
* As for qualifications, Sarah Palin shoots bears and moose. Dick Cheney shoots birds and lawyers. Sounds qualified enough to me.
* As for experience, as a former mayor and current governor Sarah Palin already has more executive experience in government than Barack Obama, Joe Biden and, frankly, John McCain combined.
* As for foreign policy experience, News & Views reader Mike Attebery notes, "At least on the Republican ticket the experienced one is the leader and the apprentice is in the correct position." Yep.
* Every time a Democrat says Sarah Palin doesn't have enough experience to be president, they undermine Barack Obama himself. They're falling right into McCain's well-laid trap. You go, guys!
* By the way, what experience did Geraldine Ferraro have to be "a heartbeat away" from the Oval Office? Three-term congresswoman? Puh-lease.
