The Draft

The Democrats have been screaming that if re-elected, the Bush Administration will re-institute the draft. Not only that, but that is it already happening.

1. Do you personally know anyone who has received anything resembling a draft notice? I'm not talking about reservists who are supposedly being retained in the Reserve past their commitment period. I'm talking draft of young people currently not in the military.

2. The White House, the Pentagon, and the Selective Service all state there is no draft, and no intention of starting it.

3. The only people talking about starting a draft are Democrats. A bill has been introduced into Congress by Charles Rangle of NY and Fritz Hollings of South Carolina, who are both (gasp!).....Democrats! The Democrats are also saying that the Senate is scared to act on it. It was voted on in the House on Tuesday - defeated 402-2. I think we can put this one to rest.

It's a scare tactic, people. It's being put out there by the Democrats to scare votes away from Bush to Kerry. And I think it's deplorable. It ranks right up there with the reports of groups storming Bush campaign offices and terrorizing (yes, I use that word intentionally and specifically) the campaign workers. Not only terrorizing them, but in at least one case causing injury. People, that injury amounts to assault and battery. The act of storming the campaign offices amounts to assault because it caused the people in the offices to be in fear.

Definition: Terrorize: to fill with terror or anxiety

Definition: Assault: a threat or attempt to inflict offensive physical contact or bodily harm on a person (as by lifting a fist in a threatening manner) that puts the person in immediate danger of or in apprehension of such harm or contact.

Definition:
Battery: an offensive touching or use of force on a person without the person's consent.

If it were me or mine injured, and the thug (and I use that word intentionally and specifically as well), who caused the injury could be identified, I'd press charges both criminally and civilly. And not only against the thug, but all the other thugs involved, up to and including any union and Democratic party members who can be identified as being a part of the assault.

Definition: thug: a brutal ruffian or assassin.

I challenge local, state, and Federal authorities to investigate and charge everyone involved. State and Federal authorities need to look into election and civil rights violations and local authorites should be investigating the assault and battery, along with any other crimes that were committed.

Shame on whoever is spreading these vile lies. And shame on those who were involved with the storming of campaign headquarters. I don't have the words to describe just how vile and despicable such an act is. It makes no difference who the candidate was, wrong is wrong. This shows an extreme lack of character.

And once again, it is about character.
