Thumbnail Sketch of the FairTax

The FairTax proposal is a comprehensive plan to replace federal income and payroll taxes, including personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security/Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes.

The FairTax proposal integrates such features as a progressive national retail sales tax, dollar-for-dollar revenue replacement, and a rebate to ensure that no American pays such federal taxes up to the poverty level.

Included in the FairTax Plan is the repeal of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution.

The FairTax allows Americans to keep 100 percent of their paychecks (minus any state income taxes), ends corporate taxes and compliance costs hidden in the retail cost of goods and services, and fully funds the federal government while fulfilling the promise of Social Security and Medicare.

The birth of personal income taxation occurred 100 years ago on July 12th 1909 when Congress passed to the States for ratification the 16th amendment. This year we are declaring the Centennial of this dastardly deed, July 12th, 2009, as a NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING. It is part of making our sleeping citizens aware of how Congress took that first giant step on a 180 degree turn away from the government given to us by the Constitution established by our founding fathers. We've come a long way since then...the WRONG way! And we're all paying for it with the erosion of our freedoms and of our economy. The 16th amendment puts in the hands of our Congress the power to eventually take from its citizens their right to private property ownership and put it under the control of the State. In incremental small steps, they already have taken enough of our property to dictate to us rather than represent us. Whether we call Congress "King George" or "Politboro" they have become our rulers and made freedom an illusion. Beware of "blaming" either party. They are all riding the same "gravy train" around the DC beltway and laughing at us for thinking that they have any intention of allowing the government to return to being one of we the people. Nearly 100% of the 535 members of Congress are owned by big money interests. This would not be possible without the 16th amendment which gives Congress something to sell, viz., the power to control the money supply and the personal wealth of its citizens. So, to get right down to it, big money is ruling us through the greed of Congress under the illusion that Congress is representing us. What a "revolting development this is!" On that day of infamy, July 12th, 1909, our founding fathers must have been spinning in their graves seeing happen what they had predicted would spell the beginning of the end of our Republic.
