How Much Do You Know About the
Winter Games?


1. Katarina Witt.

2. 500-meter speed skating. She finished 18/100ths of a second behind Bonnie Blair of the U.S.

3. Tights. They are required to wear trousers.

4. Bjorn Daehlie. The Nordic skier won 12 medals from 1992 to 1998 - eight of them gold.

5. Thirty-four. Ten gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze. It was the U.S.' best-ever showing at the Winter Games.

6. Fourteenth.

7. They swept the medals in halfpipe, giving the U.S. its first Winter Games medal sweep since men's figure skating in 1956.

8. Small-bore, .22 caliber rifles are used.

9. Jim Shea Jr. and Tristan Gale.

10. Switzerland defeated Canada 9-3 for the gold in men's curling; Canada defeated Denmark 7-5 for the women's gold.
